Union Government decided to resolve the differences regarding water sharing between two Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It called for the apex council meeting on Aug 5 via video conferencing with the CMs of two states Jagan and KCR.
Union Water Resources secretary UP. Singh shot down a letter to the chief secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The meeting will discuss the inter-state water disputes. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the officials of the water board of the two states will also participate in the meeting.
The meeting may discuss Telangana’s objections on the Pothireddypadu Lift Irrigation project and AP’s objections over Kaleswaram lift irrigation. This is the second time such meeting is happening after the then Union Minister Uma Bharati met CMs of both AP and Telangana, Chandra Babu, and KCR in 2016. It has to be seen who will get knocked down in the meeting.
