The two sides of Chandra Babu’s travel to Vizag

There was a deadly gas leak from LG Polymers during the early hours of Thursday. Immediately after the incident, Andhra Pradesh Opposition party leader Nara Chandra Babu Naidu sought permission from the central government, to travel to Vishakapatnam from Hyderabad.

No one except Chandra Babu knows the response from the central government for his request. Some sections of media were speculating all day that Chandra Babu will leave Hyderabad in the next hour. End of the day, Chandra Babu is yet to reach Vishakapatnam.

Everyone is aware of the animosity between TDP and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. The media is also split between the two parties. Each of the sections started carrying stories as per their affiliation and convenience.

Pro TDP groups are saying the central government granted permission to Babu for his travel to Vishakapatnam. However,  due to the lockdown, there is minimal staff available in the air traffic control and hence the delay. However, some enthusiastic TDP supporters started posting old pics in the social media platform with titles like ” The lion is back”.

Anti TDP groups are saying that the central government declined permission to Babu. They were expecting YS Jagan’s government may bring up the issue of COVID tests and Quarantine. This would complicate the situation. Also, the same would repeat when Babu is traveling back to Hyderabad from Vizag.

But sources close to the entire episode is saying, the center took a middle path. It neither approved nor declined. Amidst the crisis, to avoid an unnecessary tussle between TDP and YSRCP, the central government did not respond to the Babu’s request. The TDP pro media is keeping mum on this episode. The reason being any news on negative response to Naidu’s request from the central government might send wrong signals about Babu’s relationship with PM Modi.
