Introduction: Being a low budget movie, ‘Falakunma Das’ garnered a lot of attention and curiosity with its teasers and trailers. The movie is the remake of Malayalam ‘Angamalai Diaries’. Let’s see if it lives up to its expectations.
Story: Das is a youth studying degree in Falaknuma. He admires the local rowdy, Sankaranna and wanted to follow in his footsteps. Under certain circumstances, Sankaranna would be found murdered. In the memory of Sankaranna, Das opens a mutton shop for his living. Das and his gang were embroiled in a rivalry with the villain gang and meantime, Das gets arrested for a murder he didn’t commit. How he gets out of the trouble forms the rest of the story.
Analysis: Actor cum director, Vishwak Sen proved his mettle with his earlier movies like ‘Vellipomake’ and ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emindhi’. Director to some extent also succeeded in showing the old city of Hyderabad like never before and the youth and their lifestyle there. This to some extent becomes a plus and a minus to the story. Plus because the youth in Hyderabad can relate themselves and minus because given the lack of story and gripping narration the background constricts to a group of audience and rest of the audience tunes out. The main plot is gang disputes and how a youth comes out of it. There needs to be a gripping screenplay to make this work on screen and make the audience glued to the seats. Many of the scenes seem repetitive and lackluster. Romantic tracks aren’t necessary. Though the interval bang raises hopes, second half completely dashes the hopes. Heroines are a big minus to the film.
