Ever since YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a suggestion of three capitals to Andhra Pradesh, there have been celebrations in some parts of the state and dharnas in other parts.
The majority have been neutral to the decision. People of Uttarandhra are definitely elated with the thought of Vizag being executive capital. On the other hand parts of Guntur and Krishna district are not happy with the decision. In Rayalaseema, people are happy as they feel something is better than nothing. At the same time, anti-Jagan leaders of Rayalaseema are saying it is just an eyewash.
The fact of the matter is there is no official decision from the government on this yet, but leaders and people are reacting as per their convenience. Everyone including the YSR Congress leaders are eagerly waiting for the cabinet to convene on the 27th of December and pronounce the official word on the capital issue.
Between the chief minister’s announcement and today, the G N Rao committee submitted it’s recommendations on the capital. Surprisingly its recommendations were in line with the suggestions made by the chief minister in the Assembly. Some sections are seeing this whole thing as a foul play due to this.
TeluguRajyam would like to make a guess on what the decision is most likely to emerge on the idea of 3 capitals for Andra Pradesh.
It is going to be certain that Vizag will get secretariat which is the executive wing of the government, it will also get a High court bench and Probably one assembly session. The idea behind the single Assembly session is just laying the ground for Vizag as the one capital for Andhra Pradesh in the future.
Amaravathi will be the place for Raj Bhavan and Chief Ministers’ residence and will continue to be called the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It will be denied the high court bench. All Promises made to farmers will be kept. It will also get a full-fledged assembly and council houses. There will be an announcement of huge investment from the government’s side in Krishna and Guntur district over the next few years. The strategy behind this would be to isolate Amaravathi agitations.
Rayalaseema will be given full-fledged High court barring one bench in Vizag. Only 18 percent of the total cases come to a high court full bench. Just to make sure there is a lot of activity in Kurnool High court except Vizag, to deal with government matters, no other place is likely to receive a bench.
To subside any other resentment in other parts of the state, each district will be promised of a unique development project. Say Krishna and Prakasham district likely to get ports, Tirupathi will be the hub for skill development, Vizayanagaram a greenfield airport, East and West Godavari will be promised to be made the petrochemical and seafood processing hubs.
Overall the objective would be to getting a thumping acceptance to the division of capital and at the same time make sure the protests in Amaravathi will not pick up any momentum hereafter.
