There is a well-known animosity between Eenadu Management and YSR family. Eenadu initially claimed it is anti-Congress. But over a period of time more specifically after YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s death, Surprisingly Eendau did not carry any negative stories on Congress. It focused mostly on Jagan’s disproportionate assets case. Eenadu shifted from anti-Congress to anti-YSR family.
Jagan as the leader of the opposition party in Andhra Pradesh made some attempts to reconcile with Ramoji Rao. It very much looked on the cards, but it never happened. No one knows what exactly is the reason.
The time passed and come 2019 Jagan became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Eenadu did not spare the new government. It could not maintain restraint even for 3 months. There were several banner items against Jagan’s government.
To counter such negative stories Jagan’s government issued a GO 2340. This GO gives authority for the government officials to files cases against the editors of newspapers if they carried any kind of cooked up stories against the government.
In the wake of this GO, Ramoji Rao stepped aside as the Chief Editor of Eenadu, a position which he was holding from the time of inception of the paper. He could have stepped aside due to health reasons, but the timing was wrong.
Many believe that this GO was issued by Jagan with few people in mind. It was easy for Ramoji Rao to face YSR because Ramoji could meet YSR’s bosses in Delhi. But that is not the case with Jagan. He is supreme and if he wishes, he can do it.
Again today, when there are several other issues going on in Andhra Pradesh, Eenadu carried out a banner story on Jasti Krishna Kishore’s case. Ramoji is seeing through where this will all end. Eenadu wants to deter Jagan Mohan reddy by carrying out banner stories and alleging Jagan of witch-hunting.
Eenadu is making all the efforts to ensure Jagan doesn’t go all the way till the top of the TDP leadership. But who knows where this will all lead?
